Area rugs take a beating
An area rug usually sits in the busiest spot in the room — under the dining table, in front of the couch, at the foot of the bed. It collects crumbs, spills, pet hair and grit, and because rugs are often thick, all of that sinks deep into the pile where a vacuum can’t reach.
On top of that, rugs sit on hard floors. Sand and dirt trapped in the rug can scratch the wood, tile or vinyl beneath it. Keeping your rug clean helps protect both.
How we clean area rugs
- Identify the rug. Size, fiber and construction all affect how a rug should be cleaned. Thick, dense rugs hold a lot of water and need extra care to dry properly.
- Remove dry soil. Getting the loose grit out first makes the wet cleaning more effective.
- Pre-treat spots and traffic areas.
- Deep clean and rinse. We pick the method that fits the rug: our truck-mounted system, extraction on-site, or a cold-water bath off-site.
- Extract and dry. Strong suction pulls out as much water as possible so the rug dries quickly — important in Florida humidity, where a damp rug can start to smell.

How to get ready
- Vacuum the rug if you can, and clear furniture off it.
- Tell us about any pet accidents or spills and roughly how long ago they happened.
- Check for a label on the back of the rug — the fiber content helps us choose the right method.
